BIO


     Coach Bowen will be entering his 25th year of coaching high school football in Georgia and his 24th year teaching.  Last year, Coach Bowen was the head football coach at Cross Keys High School in Atlanta, GA and before that he was Head Football Coach at Hephzibah High School near Augusta, GA for ten years.  In all Coach Bowen has nineteen years of experience as a head football coach and at one time was one of the youngest head coaches in GHSA history at age 23.

     Coach Bowen left Hephzibah as the school’s all-time wins leader after having taken the Rebels to the GHSA Class AAAA/AAA state playoffs in 3 of his last 7 years there.  Coach Bowen was also named Atlanta Falcons High School Coach of the Week in October of 2014.  Other honors achieved at Hephzibah included being named to the first ever Border Bowl Team Georgia staff in 2014 and serving as Head Coach for the 5th Annual CSRA Senior Bowl in December of 2014 which was a 28-6 victory for the National Squad. 

     In all, Coach Bowen’s tenure at Hephzibah produced more than two dozen collegiate football players including a NCAA National Champion, NFL Super Bowl Champion, NFL First Round Selection, a UGA Football Captain and most notably 3 former players that are now coaching football at the collegiate level.

     Coach Bowen has also been a head coach in the following sports: soccer, baseball, basketball and golf.  In 2015, Coach Bowen led the Hephzibah Rebels back to the GHSA Class AAA State Baseball Playoffs for the first time in over 40 years, in just his first year as head coach.  In addition to his high school coaching experiences, Coach Bowen was also part of the staff for the International Football League Champion (Semi-Professional Football) Augusta Heat in 1999.  Coach Bowen also had an article on the Two Minute Offense for Football published in Gridiron Strategies, a professional journal for football coaches.

     Coach Bowen was born in Decatur, GA and graduated from The Senior Military College of Georgia (North Georgia College) after playing intercollegiate soccer there.  He is married to Tonya Bowen, who also has over 20 years of educational experience.  Tonya is a native of Washington County.  He has one son, Jordan Bowen who graduated high school in May of 2016.
